Case Study 1
Problems
identified at assessment
Ryan broke his shoulder after falling on a Cross Country Course. Vet treatment - very complicated surgery, Complications - life-threatening post-surgical infection
Treatment
- After six months box rest, the vet recommended that he start physiotherapy. - Physio consisted of joint mobilisations, soft tissue release and home exercise program (HEP) which was carried out religiously by Ryan rider 14yo Harriet. - HEP consisted of stretches, ground work - lunging and pole work - Gradually we increased the inhand work then progressed to ridden exercises and gradual increase in endurance work
Outcome
Now no lameness and Ryan and Harriet are enjoying hacking up to 3 hours, dressage at Prelim, jumping 90cm.
The success of this case has been down to the dedication of Ryan's family, especially Harriet who worked so hard with the HEP with Ryan. This just shows what hard work and patience can achieve.
